I Feel Totally AMAZING

I don't remember how I got it, but I recently scored $3 credit at Amazon Video. I've been trying out different workouts, and came across one called Bollywood Burn that looked and sounded interesting. I used my credit to rent it for two days.

I was shocked and very proud of myself for getting through two of the three segments. There was a little bit of bouncing, jumping, and hopping. They were short bursts and there were stretch breaks in between, so I pushed through. Keep in mind, it's hard for me to even do jumping jacks with all this weight on me these days!

There were a LOT of plie squats, especially in the first segment. I can still feel them working! I can actually feel the fat MELTING off of me. This is by far my favorite workout I've tried yet!

I probably could have kept going with a short break, but needed to get back to work. I'm going to squeeze in the last segment at the end of the day cuz I'm HOOKED!

 Here's a preview:

You can rent or buy your own copy of Bollywood Burn at Amazon. One very super cool thing is you can buy the DVD, AND download it immediately. We live in amazing times, don't we?

Hubby came in the room while I was doing the workout. He said he liked the pants the instructor was wearing. As in, "I think they'd look good on you!" So, of course I had to let my fingers to do the walking and find a pair, right? I searched EVERYTHING I could think of: Bollywood dance clothes, Bollywood dance pants, Belly dance pants, and on and on.

Then I engaged the help of the best Googler and online shopper I know: my bff, Jen, a.k.a. Mom Rocks Mealtime, a.k.a @momrocksmeals, a.k.a. J.Ho. I asked her to view the video and find me the pants. In under 7 minutes, she located a very similar pair of pants online! This gal is amazing! I think she has missed her true calling as personal shopper! Check out these red Bollywood Dance Pants! Aren't they cute?!

Free Exercise Apps!

I recently discovered these free workout apps for smart phones:

  • Daily Abs Workout
  • Daily Arms Workout
  • Daily Butt Workout
  • Daily Legs Workout
  • Workout Trainer
I have a new accountability partner at work. Her name is Hilary. We have agreed to text each other when we are going to exercise, what we are doing, and for how long. I am also accountable on a FaceBook group. I find doing this with others helps a lot!

Week 1 On The Zone Diet

Hubby and I started our first week on The Zone Diet this week. Our first reaction is that it is a lot of food! Sometimes we don't get to it all because we just aren't that hungry. I have noticed I have more energy (aside from two days down with a screaming migraine), and I feel better inside.

Maybe it's because I'm finally eating my 5 servings of fruits or vegetables each day! We've been having blueberries (on sale at SaveMart), strawberries, grapes, even kiwi! Normally bananas on our cereal and a side vegetable at dinner are about it for fruits and veggies.

Exercise wise, I've been doing 15 minutes of Zumba on the Wii each day last week. I'm trying to work my way up to 30 minutes. I've also been finding workout videos on YouTube and Netflix. Today I did Core Rhythms for about 30 minutes, and later in the day I did Crunch Cardio Dance Blast, which got cut short by a knock on the door. All together, I'd say it was 45 minutes of cardio. I'm sweating a LOT, I can tell you that much!

Checking in With Today's Efforts 7/13/12

Food Diary: No
Water: Yes
Exercise:
  • 10 minutes of Zumba on the Wii
  • 20 reps each of three different leg exercises
  • 25 reps each side on the Ultra Track, standing
  • 10 reps on the Ultra Track, working abs
  • Pulled weeds for about 20-30 minutes.I'm counting this as exercise due to the amount of sweat generated!
Next week, we start the Zone meal plan. It was recommended by the trainer who is getting hubby started on a workout routine at the gym.

Bucket List Item: Lose a Marathon

I never was one for running. It was the part of P.E. that I absolutely dreaded. I know some people who absolutely swear by it. I'm still not buying it. Instead of adding "win a marathon" or even "run a marathon" to my bucket list, I have decided to LOSE a marathon. Yes, you read that correctly...sorta.

I recently came across this blog that talks about a challenge to lose 26.2 pounds. I certainly have more than that to lose, but I thought this sounded like a fun challenge.

I'm not off to the best start these first few weeks. However, our family recently received a year long membership at a nearby, posh health club in exchange for services my husband provided. So far we have only taken advantage of the "water park," as my daughter calls it. Hubby will meet with the trainer tomorrow morning to get on a workout regimen. I am going to make an appointment this week as well. We are both on a mission to shrink!

START - Monday, June 18, 2012
FINISH - Monday, Sept. 17, 2012

Registration for the official challenge is now closed. However, you can still join in! Please leave me a comment below if you want to lose a marathon, too! Let's do this together!

Mixin' it Up a Little!

I got Zumba 2 for Wii for my birthday.  It is kicking my BUTT! I am loving it! I am trying to get into a routine of doing it daily and also do some Wii Fit Plus. I seem to burn wayyy more calories doing Zumba than even the skateboarding or obstacle course, which I find to be the most intense on the Wii Fit Plus.

I also have Just Dance 2, so I will work that into my rotation too.

I haven't posted here in I don't know how long (I was afraid to look), so I just wanted to stop by and post a quick update. That's all..bye for now!

10 pounds by March 19! Can She Do It & other random thoughts!

Back Story: Hubby surprised me with a trip to Long Beach area for a fundraiser benefit dinner dealio. He's gone to it the last couple of years and last year determined that wives were invited this year.

He was planning to surprise me with this trip on Valentine's day, which IS surprising since I'm not a big fan of surprises. Well, I should say I wouldn't have been hip to the idea if he'd say, sprang this on me within a week of the trip! As it turns out, he was planning to let me know on Valentine's day. However, he recently invested in a fancy wireless printer so that we can more easily share the printer. However, the printer is in my office, so I saw things like airplane reservations with my name on them, a flier for the benefit dinner event, etc.

Why does all this matter & what does it have to do with weight loss? Well, I'm still lingering around 190. The other "wife" in this equation, was preggo the same time I was and has recently shed 90 pounds! That is not a typo. She's not big on exercise so she's done it purely with her diet. She's now posting daily diet tips on her Facebook. While I am very happy for her, I am not looking forward to standing next to her size six self at this event.

I know there is no way I will EVER be a size 6 again and I'm fine with that. What I CAN do, is seriously commit to drinking my minimum water every day, taking my fiber and detox tea, and doing some form of exercise every day! Mostly that will be my Wii because I can keep better track of it. Plus, the weather's been crappy and not very conducive to walking.

Other random thoughts:

I was feeling quite depressed this morning. I won't get into details, but I have a lot going on right now that would cause a person to have such feelings. It's no suprise and certainly not considered "clinical depression" because it is due to overwhelming circumstances, not a chemical imbalance in my brain. Anyway, so I was having some really ugly thoughts and comtemplating a donut or six...I took a break and got a small bite to eat (love them Lara Bars!), and started up the Wii Fit Plus.

Wow! What a DIFFERENCE! (Side note: My Wii fit age was significantly higher today than earlier in the week. I find that interesting considering the difference in my mental/emotional state between the two fitness tests! Just sayin'!)

So I'm not meeting my commitment 100% yet, but every day I am drinking more water and have exercised more days than not this week. That's a pretty good start. Oh, I'm also down almost 3#, according to the Wii scale. I think I like the Wii scale better than my bathroom scale! Not just because it reflects a lighter weight, but it shows improvement even when my bathroom scale seems to report the same numbers!

There ya have it. I'll try to post more often!
